FAQ

What are teasylights?

A technique used to create natural-looking highlights. Back combing is used to create a blended transition between roots and your highlight.

What are tipped out ends?

A technique similar to teasylights where the hair is teased, and then lighter is applied to only the tips of the hair to enhance, brighten or refresh the ends.

What are babylights?

Natural looking and low maintenance. Using ultrafine sections to allow soft grow out with maximum brightness. Often used around the hairline and throughout the top portion of your hair for a softer grow out.

What is a root shadow and glaze?

A root shadow is a seamless way to blend your highlights with your natural hair color at the root creating a seamless blend and a softer grow out.

What is a glaze?

A glaze is applied beyond the root shadow to enhance/soften/or correct any unwanted undertones. It improves the overall health of the hair and adds tons of shine. Both a root shadow and glaze are 9/10 done on all of my blondes for the longer-lasting results mentioned above.

Why do I need to Olaplex in my color?

Olaplex and other bonders are used in every highlight and glaze to protect the integrity of the hair. As mentioned above, foil work can be damaging, but these bonders help to ensure the strength of your hair during the process.

Balayage vs Foils

Balayage offers a more natural, hand-painted look with a gradual color transition. Foil highlights provide a precise and controlled application for more dramatic results.

Balayage Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Longer lasting results between colors

  • Natural grow out

  • Low damage for people with fragile hair

Cons:

  • Balayage it's not a very bold hair change

  • Extremely hard to recreate

  • It may not be powerful enough to dramatically lighten darker hair or hair that has any permanent color

  • Warmer golden results as opposed to cooler tones

  • Takes multiple sessions to get the dimensional look

Foil Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • More control of end results (cool tones/warm tones)

  • More customization

  • Bolder results

  • Less warmth

  • Less sessions to get end results

Cons:

  • Require more frequent touch-ups

  • Can be more damaging to hair

  • Not as natural looking

BUT, I’m known for giving the balayage “pros” results by using foil work to achieve the look. My foil work end result is blended and lived-in, giving you a more graceful grow-out. Most of my blondes go anywhere from 10-12 weeks before needing a refresh using my root shadow and glaze technique.
